The Undergraduate Program
For
undergraduate students aspiring to business careers in the sport
world, the Center for Sport Management at Seton Hall University
offers a bachelor of science degree in business administration with
a concentration in sport management. The B.S.B.A. requires a minimum
of 128 credits, including 87 core credits, 15 credits in the sport
management concentration, and elective course work.
The
sport management concentration is an interdisciplinary program
designed to teach sport-related management skills, such as contract
negotiation, collective bargaining, sport marketing, advertising and
sponsorship strategies. Courses include sport law, the economics of
the sport industry, sport marketing and finance. Elective courses
include facilities management and global sport
marketing. | |
The M.B.A. Program The Center
for Sport Management offers a 48-credit Master of Business
Administration (M.B.A.) degree with a concentration in sport
management. Candidates for the M.B.A. in sport management must
complete required M.B.A. courses and 12 credits selected from
courses such as sport finance, the management of sport
organizations, sport marketing, sport law and various
electives.
The J.D./M.B.A.
Program In cooperation with the Seton Hall
School of Law in Newark, the Center for Sport Management also
offers a five-year joint J.D./M.B.A. degree with a
concentration in sport management. Seton Hall Law School
publishes a well-known, national Journal of Sports Law.
Largely due to this, and the Law School's own Sports Law
Symposium, the J.D./M.B.A. with a concentration in sport
management is one of the most popular joint degree programs
offered at Seton Hall.
Post-M.B.A.
Certificate
The center also offers an
Advanced Certificate in Sport Management for professionals who
already hold the M.B.A. or M.S. in business administration
degree. Candidates for the advanced certificate must complete
15 credit hours in the sport management course
offerings.
Internships
Experiential or
hands-on learning is one of the hallmarks of a Seton Hall
education. The University believes in practical application of
skills learned in the classroom. The Center for Sport
Management takes advantage of its metropolitan New York
location in offering exceptional internship opportunities with
the following types of organizations:
- Sport marketing companies,
- The New Jersey Sports and Exposition
Authority
- MTV Sports, ESPN, and HBO sports,
- Madison Square Garden
- Major and minor league sports franchises
