

Larry
McCarthy (Ph.D., Ohio State University) has been an Associate
Professor of Management in the Center for Sport Management at Seton Hall
University since August of 1998. He teaches Sport Marketing at the undergraduate
and graduate levels, International Sport Management, Introduction to the Sport
Industry, and the Marketing portion of the M.B.A. Decision Making IV course.
Prior to this appointment, McCarthy was the Graduate Sport Management Program
coordinator in the Department of Recreation & Sport Management at Georgia
Southern University. His research interests focus on the valuation of
sponsorship and naming rights, olympic sport and sport in Ireland. He has
published articles in national and international journals and has presented his
research work at regional, national and international conferences. He recently
published his first textbook, Sport Promotion and Sales Management, with Richard
Irwin and William Sutton. He was appointed by The Atlanta Committee for the
Olympic Games (ACOG) as an Olympic Envoy to the Olympic Council of Ireland for
the Centennial Olympic Games.
McCarthy has a Ph.D. in Sport Management from
The Ohio State University. He holds an M.A. in Sport and Fitness Management from
New York University and a B.Ed. in Physical Education and Social and
Environmental Studies from the National University of Ireland. Born in Cork,
Ireland, McCarthy is married to Barbara and has two children, Connor and Shane.
