As a student in the Management Department,
you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and energetic faculty. The
faculty has a rich variety of research interests—the impact of flexible work
schedules on employees and organizations, the role of political action
committees (PACs), management strategies for developing countries, internal
corporate ventures, doing business in China, the electronics industry in Taiwan,
production/operation scheduling and union voting behavior, among many others.
Many of the management faculty have had the opportunity to
teach or present their research abroad, in countries such as Austria, Australia,
Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, India, Hong Kong, Poland, Russia, Singapore,
Taiwan and the United Kingdom. As a result, their teaching reflects some of the
most current developments in international management, and you will become aware
of these trends. Furthermore, the faculty have worked with students to structure
independent study work on such topics as women in international business
management, the demographics of the future work force, and union/non-union
differences among workers. Some of these projects have been published in
scholarly journals. In this way, students’ specialized research interests can be
accommodated.
