Dr.
A.D. Amar
Dr. A. D. Amar is Professor of Management (strategy and policy, and
knowledge work management) and the Director of MBA
Assessment. He holds BS (India) and MS (MSU)
degrees in engineering, an MBA (Baruch College), and
a Ph.D. in Business (CUNY). He has published over
75 works in various journals and periodicals, such
as Production and Inventory Management Journal,
IIE Transactions, Computers & Industrial
Engineering, International Journal of Production
Research, European Journal of Innovation Management,
and The Mid-Atlantic Journal of Business.
He has been serving on the editorial boards of many
journals, including Academy of Management Review,
European Journal of Innovation Management, Computers
and Operations Research, Computers and Industrial
Engineering, and the Mid-Atlantic Journal of
Business. His works also include a book titled
Managing Knowledge Workers: Unleashing Innovation
and Productivity (Westport, CT: Quorum Books,
2002), focusing on understanding the personality and
behavior of knowledge workers and how to
productively employ and integrate them in the work
environment.
He has worked and consulted in general management, productivity
enhancement, and operations and strategy areas for a
number of firms, such as Vornado, Inc., Arkwin
Industries, Teledyne Pacific Industrial Controls,
General Motors, and VW/Audi Group. He has trained
managers for federal, state, and city governments,
and for private companies. In addition to lecturing
at many technical conferences almost all over the
world, he has instructed business and public
managers in the USA, the U.K., Russia, Poland, and
India. He has been invited to conduct seminars,
chair professional conference sessions and was a
plenary speaker at the 2002 European Knowledge
Management Forum in London, UK. Dr. Amar is a
member of INFORMS, Academy of Management, and Beta
Gamma Sigma.
Dr. Amar is married. His wife (Sneh) and he have
two sons.
